Coppercoil Vine

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This large shrub grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for around 65 years. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous wide, straight stems covered in delicate, cracked, copper-coloured bark, and the wood inside is black.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with copious amounts of miniature, needle-like, leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are found in peach and red varieties, hardy and smooth.

In early summer it produces many balls of small, red flowers with 7 cylindrical shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a strong scent that smells like meat.


It is suitable for making strong rope
The sap is intense yellow.
