Copperleaf

This modest-sized leaf succulent grows up to 24 feet (7.3 meters) tall. The very thin stem is lime green, and is covered in copious amounts of rigid florescent yellow spines. The jagged-edged, 6 pointed leaves are brown and muted yellow. Copious amounts of them grow from the base in alternating layers of 3, then 6, then 9, and so on. The leaves are rigid, and take some effort to detach.

It is slow growing, taking 30 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a single flower with copper petals and a yellow center grows at the top, reappearing after 2 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is made up of 5 petals in raised layers. It has a fairly strong scent that smells like an ocean breeze.

The leaf succulent's skin is thin, the copper flesh is rubbery, and the copper sap is thin.
