Copperbell

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This small caudiciform grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall. The wispy stem is copper, and is covered in lots of flexible drab yellow spines. The straight, brilliant green trunk can grow to as much as 1 foot (30.5 cm) in diameter in the middle. Its orange-yellow branches are tall, rigid and upright and start growing at the top the stem.

The very large amounts of toothed-edged, very thick leaves are deep yellow on the edges and red at the center. They are durable, and take little effort to detach.

It is fast growing, taking 5 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with petals that are blue on the underside and turquoise on the top grows at the top, reappearing once every 2 years. The flower head is made up of 33 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight sphere. It has a fairly strong scent that smells like something putrid.

The caudiciform's skin is rock-hard, the gold flesh is rubbery, and the faded purple sap is thin and can cause blindness if consumed.
