Pink-Red Caudiciform

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This small caudiciform grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall. The pleated stem is pink-red, and is covered in dozens of fine, yellow, hair-like spines. The angular, brown trunk can grow to as much as 1 foot (30.5 cm) in diameter in the middle. Its green branches trail down to the ground and start growing a quarter of the way up the stem.

The sparse amounts of jagged-edged, wide leaves are white and lime. They are flimsy, and easily come away when pulled.

It is fast growing, taking 4 months to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with alternating petals of red and brown, with a lilac central disk grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is made up of 12 petals in raised layers. It has a strong scent that smells like rotten egg.

The caudiciform's skin is very thick, the bright green flesh is leathery, and the caramel sap is thin.

Several parts of the tree have medicinal properties.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if it falls or if its limbs are knocked off.
