Orange Spine

This short caudiciform grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall. The sickle shaped stem is moss green, and is dotted with small deep green spines. The round, orange trunk can grow to as much as 4 feet (1.2 meters) in diameter. Its green branches are very long and thick.

The wavy-edged, very narrow and elongated leaves are white and lime. They are light, but are very difficult to pull away.

It is very fast growing, taking 8 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with alternating petals of red and brown, with a lilac central disk grow at the top, reappearing after 7 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is made up of several petals in raised layers. It has a scent that varies in strength that smells like fresh linen.

The caudiciform's skin is thick, the caramel flesh is smooth, and the red sap is thin.
