Magenta Bellfern

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 45 years. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has numerous narrow, twisting stems covered in delicate, smooth, brown bark, and the wood inside is dark brown.

The branches are short, rigid and upright that and are covered with small bunches of tiny, finger-like, leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are dark brown on the sides and magenta at the center, delicate and soft.

It produces several giant, turquoise flowers with asymmetrical petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a fairly strong scent that smells like petrol. In early summer it forms medium-sizedhazel aril (seeds with fleshy covers).
