Blackberry Tree

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This small fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 16 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, angular trunk covered in hard, smooth, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the light wood is burgundy-brown.

The branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with copious amounts of giant, thin leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are azure at the bottom and peach with beige lines at the top.

In early spring, it produces several medium-sized, caramel blossoms with stiff, pointed petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a faint scent that smells like apple.

In late summer it produces small, oblong fruit. The fuzzy dark brown skin is peel-able and sour, and the very soft olive flesh is sour and very dry. The caramel seed is small and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.
