Copperfruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 18 feet (5.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 41 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a flexible, curved trunk covered in thin, rough, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the flexible wood is dark brown.

The branches are short, thin and wispy and are covered with small amounts of giant, very thick leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are found in aquamarine, cyan and beige varieties.

In early spring, it produces lots of large, light brown blossoms with 6 crescent-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a soft scent that smells like soap.

In late summer it produces large, wide fruit. The smooth yellow skin is thin and edible when roasted; it is savoury, and the soft peach flesh is bitter and savoury and syrupy. The bronze seed is very large and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.

It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
