Copperleaf

This short tree grows up to 4 meters (13.1 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 127 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, straight trunk covered in smooth, light brown bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is copper-coloured.

The abundance of branches are very long and thin and are covered with copious amounts of crispy, tiny, very thin leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are found in hazel and white varieties.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of medium-sized, brown blossoms with heart-shaped shaped petals. They fall easily and have a weak scent that smells like cherry.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, red, tough-shelled seeds.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.
