Grass type: Annual (Stores water in its leaves)

This modest-sized, brown grass grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall. The spear shaped stalks grow in small clumps that are strong and tough and they spread and grow quickly.

When mature, the end of the stem eventually transforms into a giant, sky blue flower.

During the late summer, it produces very little pollen, but can cause severe allergic reactions, and after flowering, it is left with plenty of giant grains.

It commonly grows in large patches.
