Turquoise

Flower type: Perennial (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This modest-sized flower grows up to 1.2 feet (36 cm) tall. Its yellow-green stem is wispy and splits into dozens of branching stems three quarters of the way up, and the giant, yellow leaves are sickle shaped with smooth edges. The leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

Each stem splits 5 to 9 times; a single small flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 6 cm (2.4 inches) wide, with petals that are dark brown at the sides and turquoise at the center. The flower head is shaped like a dish with 55 tightly layered, narrow petals. They are very delicate.

It has a delicate scent that smells like new books, and it has very little pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects and is visited by a large variety of them.

The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
