Caramel Succulent
Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)This short leaf succulent grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall. The very narrow, elongated stem is lime green, and is covered in lots of flexible yellow spines. The wavy-edged, very narrow and elongated leaves are found in sky blue, ashy green and caramel varieties. Large amounts of them grow from the base in alternating layers of 3, then 6, then 9, and so on. The leaves are tough, and easily come away when pulled.
It is very slow growing, taking 11 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with petals that are caramel on the underside and caramel on the top grows at the top, reappearing once every 10 years. The flower head is largely flat with several widely spaced narrow petals. It has a weak scent that smells like marzipan.
The leaf succulent's skin is nearly impenetrable, the white flesh is soft, and the ashy orange sap is thin.
It is almost impossible to grow from cuttings.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
