Copper

This modest-sized caudiciform grows up to 50 feet (15.2 meters) tall. The slender, pointed stem is copper, and is covered in handfuls of flexible bronze spines. The thick, gnarled, hazel trunk can grow to as much as 50 feet (15.2 meters) in diameter. Its orange-yellow branches are very long and thin.

The serrated-edged, 5 pointed leaves are either pale green, or light brown with gentle yellow streaks. They are tough, but detach easily.

It is slow growing, taking 32 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with petals that are gold on the edges and cyan at the center, grow at the top, reappearing after 9 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a dish with 50 tightly layered, narrow petals. It has a weak scent that smells like freshly baked bread.

The caudiciform's skin is tough, the blood red flesh is slimy, and the slate sap is thin.
