Caramel Trumpet

This modest-sized flower grows up to 1.5 feet (46 cm) tall. Its copper stem is very thin and splits into 10 branching stems a quarter of the way up, and the giant, yellow-green leaves are long, tapering with irregular edges. A pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.

4 to 8 giant flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 22 cm (8.7 inches) wide, with solid black petals and a caramel central disk. The flower head is made up of handfuls of petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight trumpet. They are hardy.

It has a strong scent that smells like alcohol, and it has copious amounts of pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind.
