Sunflower

This massive flower grows up to 12.0 feet (3.7 meters) tall. Its lime green stems grow from the base of the plant in bunches of 5 and are wispy and straight, and split into several branching stems three quarters of the way up, and the giant, yellow leaves are very thick with smooth edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

Each stem splits 6 to 8 times; a single medium-sized flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 65 cm (25.6 inches) wide, with solid amber petals decorated with turquoise lines and a intense purple central disk. The flower head is shaped like a star with 11 raised, narrow petals. They fall easily.

It has a scent that varies in strength that smells like wet dog, and it has excessive amounts of pollen. It is pollinated by a small species of bird.
