Mahogany

This small tree grows up to 3 meters (9.8 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 186 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, crooked trunk covered in fine, rough, black bark, and inside, the flexible wood is mahogany-coloured.

The branches are short and thick and are covered with large amounts of smooth, large, 8 pointed leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of red that gradient shifts to red at the top.

In late summer it forms giant, hazel seed pods.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
