Crimson Succulent

This big leaf succulent grows up to 95 feet (29.0 meters) tall. The tapering stem is lime green, and is covered in large amounts of flexible green spines. The bubbly leaves are slate with red tips. Small bunches of them grow on bulbous, beige or grey branches that are very short, thin and wispy. The leaves are rigid, and take some effort to detach.

It is very slow growing, taking 50 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with solid dark yellow petals decorated with cream lines and a peach central disk grow at the top, reappearing after 3 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a bowl with 12 raised, narrow petals. It has a strong scent that smells like fresh linen.

The leaf succulent's skin is thin, the dark yellow flesh is rubbery, and the violet sap is thin.
