Copperberry

This small fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 49 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a stocky, straight trunk covered in fine, wrinkled, dark green bark, and inside, the very light wood is silver.

The branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with very large amounts of huge, asymmetrical leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are found in copper, vibrant purple and black varieties.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of medium-sized, red blossoms with wide petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like skunk spray.

In mid-autumn it produces , finger-like fruit. The fuzzy azure skin is delicate and inedible, and the soft cyan flesh is spicy and savoury and oily. The light grey seed is tiny and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.
