Copperleaf

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall and lives for around 26 years. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has several stocky, straight stems covered in delicate, waxy, yellow-brown bark, and the wood inside is pale brown.

The branches are short and thin with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with small bunches of giant, broad, flat, leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are copper on the edges and bronze at the center, resistant and clammy.

In late spring it produces lots of small, black flowers with long, tapering petals with a tube-like floral cup. They fall easily and have a weak scent that smells like bleach.
