This cream and crimson moss is commonly found blanketing giant areas In damp forests.
It is big, growing up to 10 inches (25 cm) tall. It forms in small clumps, and is extremely strong.
When mature, emerald oblong capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early winter to release dozens of spores.

Several parts of the moss have medicinal properties.
It is almost impossible to grow from cuttings.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
