Bloodvine
Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This large caudiciform grows up to 81 feet (24.7 meters) tall. The narrow stem is silver, and is covered in thousands of fine, green, hair-like spines. It has a straight, very thick, blood red trunk atop a very thick mess of knobbly, exposed roots. The branches are round and yellow and are very long and thin.
The smooth-edged, slender, pointed leaves are solid faded green or caramel, with aquamarine splotches. They are delicate, but easily come away when pulled.
It is very fast growing, taking 5 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with each petal a slightly different shade of muted orange grow at the top, reappearing after 4 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is largely flat with handfuls of raised narrow petals. It has an overpowering scent that smells like marzipan.
The caudiciform's skin is thin, the red flesh is rubbery, and the purple sap is thin.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
