Azureleaf

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This average-sized shrub grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 191 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has numerous stocky, crooked stems covered in wrinkled, pine-coloured bark, and the wood inside is yellow-brown.

The branches are very short and thin with thousands of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of giant, 9 pointed, leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are slate with azure tips, resilient and clammy.

In early summer it produces large amounts of medium-sized, lilac blossoms with cylindrical shaped petals. They detach easily and have a delicate scent that smells like lavender.

In early winter small asymmetrical fruits ripen. The clammy bold blue skin is peel-able and inedible, and the crunchy yellow flesh is savoury and dry. The crimson seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
