Copperpetal

Flower type: Annual (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This big flower grows up to 4.2 feet (1.3 meters) tall. Its copper stem is very thin and splits into 10 branching stems at the base, and the large, orange leaves are pleated with tattered edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

Each stem splits 5 to 11 times; a single giant flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 41 cm (16.1 inches) wide, with muted purple petals and a yellow center. The flower head is made up of 48 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight tube. They detach easily.

It has a weak scent that smells like rotten egg, and it has an average amount of pollen; it can cause allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird.
