Bluefruit Tree

This short fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 56 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a slender, wavy trunk covered in knobbly, gray bark, and inside, the very light wood is burgundy-brown.

The small bunches of branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with copious amounts of tiny, wide leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are blue and drab green.

In early spring, it produces several medium-sized, dark brown blossoms with kidney-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a powerful scent that smells like something putrid.

In late autumn it produces tiny, wide fruit. The fuzzy pink skin is stretchy and inedible, and the very soft sky blue flesh is bitter and oily. The lime seed is tiny and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.
