Pinkfruit Tree

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 12 feet (3.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 18 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a stocky, straight trunk covered in very thick, wrinkled, gray bark, and inside, the light wood is dark brown.

The numerous branches are short stubs and are covered with handfuls of miniature, slender, pointed leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are bronze and pink.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of medium-sized, yellow blossoms with shield-shaped shaped petals. They fall easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like vomit.

In mid-summer it produces small, long, straight fruit. The fuzzy cream skin is peel-able and edible when boiled; it is overwhelmingly spicy, and the crunchy gentle purple flesh is bitter and sticky. The red seed is large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
