Copperleaf

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This average-sized shrub grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall and lives for around 47 years. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has many thick, straight stems covered in knobbly, copper-coloured bark, and the wood inside is white with black speckles.

The branches are short, rigid and upright that and are covered with large amounts of tiny, circular, leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are either green or yellow, with brown lines, strong and rough.

In late summer it produces a thick sheet of medium-sized, gold flowers with many layers of petals. They are very delicate and have a weak scent that smells like something putrid.

It is suitable for making paper
