Caramel Flower

This small flower grows up to 5 inches (13 cm) tall. Its gray stems grow in bunches of 3 and are wispy and straight, and the tiny, yellow and slate leaves are slender, pointed with ripped edges. A pair of leaves grow at the base of the stem.

A single giant flower sits at the end of the stem. The flowers are 16 cm (6.3 inches) wide, with each petal a slightly different shade of caramel. The flower head is shaped like a sphere made up of many widely spaced, narrow petals. They are hardy.

It has the faintest scent that smells like cherry, and it has very little pollen; it can cause allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also particularly attractive to insects.
