Bluefruit Tree
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)This short fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 57 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a stocky, angular trunk covered in paper-thin, smooth, silver bark, and inside, the very dense wood is gray.
The small bunches of branches are very long and thin and are covered with very large amounts of huge, circular leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are found in lilac, gold and blue varieties.
In early spring, it produces many bunches of medium-sized, blue blossoms with oval-shaped shaped petals. They fall easily and have a strong scent that smells like perfume.
In late autumn it produces tiny, umbrella-shaped fruit. The crispy caramel skin is delicate and sweet, and the soft crimson flesh is sweet and oily. The bronze seeds are small and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.
The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
