Desert Water Lily

This modest-sized flower grows up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. Its silver stem is very thin, and the giant, emerald leaves are dark brown on the underside and are circular with smooth edges. A pair of leaves grow at the base of the stem.

Dozens of medium-sized flowers grow in drooping bunches like grapes. The flowers are 5 cm (2.0 inches) wide, with beige petals that gradient shift to peach on the outer edge. The central disk is white. The flower head is shaped like a cup with 15 tightly layered, narrow petals. They are sturdy.

It has an intensely strong scent that smells like alcohol, and it has excessive amounts of pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator, but is also visited by one species of insect in particular.
