Copperfruit

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 48 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, straight trunk covered in delicate, waxy, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the light wood is yellow-brown.

The small handful of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with very large amounts of tiny, 8 pointed leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are florescent red on the sides and gold at the center.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of medium-sized, violet blossoms with long, narrow petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like old books.

In late autumn it produces small, long, curved fruit. The leathery cream skin is thick and sweet, and the soft florescent red flesh is spicy and very dry. The brown seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
