This small bine is a fast growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 9 feet (2.7 meters) and growing as high as 114 feet (34.7 meters).

It takes 2 months for the light grey and ashy green stems to mature, by which point they can have a diameter of 2 cm (0.8 inches) and are smooth and waxy.

The long, tapering, leathery leaves reach up to 2 inches (5 cm) in length. They are found in slate and lime varieties, and have tattered edges.
