Coffee Blossom

This big flower grows up to 5.1 feet (1.5 meters) tall. Its lime green stem is very thin and straight with a curved tip, and the giant, gray leaves are light yellow-green on the underside and are thick with jagged edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and a pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.

Two giant flowers sit at the end of the stem. The flowers are 12 cm (4.7 inches) wide, with each petal a slightly different shade of black. The flower head is made up of 34 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight heart. They fall easily.

It has an overpowering scent that smells like coffee, and it has very little pollen. It is a self-pollinator, but is enjoyed by several specific types of insect.
