Copperfern

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 134 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of stocky, angular stems covered in waxy, black bark, and the wood inside is copper-coloured.

The branches trail down towards the ground with thousands of twigs that and are covered with very large amounts of miniature, very narrow and elongated, leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are beige on the sides and amber at the center, robust and smooth.

In early spring it produces lots of medium-sized, intense orange flowers with 8 kidney-shaped shaped petals. They fall easily and have a mildly strong scent that smells like freshly washed clothes.
