Orange Sunflower

This large flower grows up to 6.8 feet (2.1 meters) tall. Its pink-red stem is wispy, and the large, brown leaves are very thick with serrated edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and a pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.

Two large flowers sit at the end of each stem. The flowers are 78 cm (30.7 inches) wide, with orange petals and an aquamarine central disk. The flower head is made up of 49 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight dish. They are very delicate.

It has a mildly strong scent that smells like meat, and it has very little pollen; it can cause allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind, but is enjoyed by several specific types of insect.
