Blackcup

This modest-sized flower grows up to 1.2 feet (36 cm) tall. Its lime green stems grow in bunches of 4 and are wispy and straight, and the miniature, muted green and lime leaves are perforated with smooth edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

Two large flowers sit at the end of each stem. The flowers are 41 cm (16.1 inches) wide, with black petals and a silver central disk. The flower head is shaped like a cup with 26 widely spaced, narrow petals. They fall easily.

It has a weak scent that smells like coffee, and it has a modest amount of pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind.
