Copperbud

This short tree grows up to 3 meters (9.8 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 277 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a flexible, slanted trunk covered in ridged, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is yellow-brown.

The branches trail down across the ground and are covered with large amounts of fuzzy, miniature, thick leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of green that gradient shifts to crimson at the top.

In late summer it forms small, gentle purple aril (seeds with fleshy covers).

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
