Bluebrush

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 129 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has many wide, twisting stems covered in thick, rough, mahogany-coloured bark, and the wood inside is pale yellow.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright with dozens of twigs that and are covered with small amounts of giant, circular, leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are solid blue with pink splotches, delicate and crispy.

In late spring it produces several large, hazel flowers with 4 pointed petals. They detach easily and have the faintest scent that smells like apple.
