Silverwood

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This short tree grows up to 6 meters (19.7 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 601 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, wavy trunk covered in delicate, smooth, silver and white bark, and inside, the dense wood is silver.

The thin clumps of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with large amounts of fuzzy, large, stiff, pointed leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are blue and lime.

In late summer it forms giant, gold, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if it falls or if its limbs are knocked off.
It makes a distinctive sound when the wind blows through it.
