Copperbrush

This average-sized shrub grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 169 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has several flexible, twisting stems covered in delicate, silky, copper-coloured bark, and the wood inside is gray.

The branches trail down across the ground that and are covered with sparse amounts of small, circular, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are sky blue at the bottom and cyan with white edges at the top, durable and rough.

In mid-spring it produces lots of small, grey blossoms with circular petals. They are very delicate and have a strong scent that smells like meat.

In midwinter tiny perforated fruits ripen. The sticky aquamarine skin is thick and salty, and the very soft purple flesh is sweet and bitter and oily. The faded orange seed is very large and sits at the end of the fruit.
