Caramel Bloodfruit Tree

This big fruit tree grows up to 28 feet (8.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 52 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, angular trunk covered in rough, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is white with black speckles.

The branches are very short and thin and are covered with very large amounts of miniature, perforated leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are caramel and blood red.

In early spring, it produces many bunches of small, silver blossoms with spear shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like grass cuttings.

In mid-autumn it produces small, pleated fruit. The crispy beige skin is delicate and inedible, and the soft caramel flesh is sweet and syrupy. The black seed is very large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
