Silverpine

Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This short tree grows up to 5 meters (16.4 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 478 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a narrow, straight trunk covered in delicate, knobbly, gray bark, and inside, the very dense wood is silver.

The abundance of branches are short and thin, with hundreds of twigs covered with handfuls of small, brilliant yellow and dark brown needles. The needles themselves are sturdy and flexible.

In late summer it produces medium-sized, cream, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with grassy ground between them.

The sap is edible and very salty.
The bark is frequently covered in moss.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
