Azurefruit Tree

This giant fruit tree grows up to 63 feet (19.2 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 36 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, straight trunk covered in delicate, cracked, dark brown bark, and inside, the hard wood is silver.

The branches are long, thin and wispy and are covered with large amounts of huge, pleated leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are found in azure, slate and aquamarine varieties.

In early spring, it produces many small, cyan blossoms with long, narrow petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a strong scent that smells like rotten meat.

In early autumn it produces , cuboid fruit. The clammy hazel skin is delicate and inedible, and the crunchy faded red flesh is sweet and salty and very dry. The olive seeds are large and are bunched at the top of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.
