Turquoise

Shrub type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 89 years. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has dozens of stocky, straight stems covered in rough, pine-coloured bark, and the wood inside is pale brown.

The branches trail down to the ground with dozens of twigs that and are covered with copious amounts of miniature, thick, leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are turquoise on the edges and light brown at the center, durable and covered in fine hairs.

In early spring it produces a thick sheet of tiny, gold blossoms with pleated petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have an overpowering scent that smells like musk.

In early autumn needle-like fruits ripen. The clammy light grey skin is thick and edible when boiled; it is sweet, and the slightly crunchy pink flesh is savoury and dry. The beige seed is large and is in the centre of the fruit.

It is suitable for making paper
Their seeds have hallucinogenic properties.
It coexists peacefully with other plants.
