Bronze Petal

This modest-sized flower grows up to 1.0 foot (30 cm) tall. Its emerald stems grow from the base of the plant in bunches of 8 and are wispy and straight, and split into numerous branching stems a quarter of the way up, and the small, copper or dark green leaves are sickle shaped with smooth edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and a pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.

Two tiny flowers sit at the end of the stem. The flowers are 9 cm (3.5 inches) wide, with petals that are generally bronze; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour. The flower head is made up of several petals in raised layers. They are very delicate.

It has a strong scent that smells like cheese, and it has lots of pollen. It is pollinated by the wind, but is also visited by a small species of bird.
