Copperwood

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This giant tree grows up to 146 meters (479.0 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 71 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, wavy trunk covered in thick, rough, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the very hard wood is pale brown-grey.

The small handful of branches are long and slender and are covered with thick bunches of waxy, small, very narrow and elongated leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are cyan at the bottom and dark brown with azure zig-zags at the top.

In early spring, it produces thousands of tiny, yellow blossoms with cylindrical petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a faint scent that smells like old books.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, hazel, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
