Copperfruit Tree

This short fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 67 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a long and flexible, straight trunk covered in hard, ridged, pine-coloured bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is copper-coloured.

The sparse amount of branches are short and thin and are covered with handfuls of tiny, stiff, pointed leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are generally white.

In early spring, it produces thousands of medium-sized, copper blossoms with pleated petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are very delicate and have a mildly strong scent that smells like pineapple.

In late summer it produces small, triangular fruit. The rubbery magenta skin is delicate and edible when boiled; it is sweet, and the soft amber flesh is sweet and very juicy. The blood red seed is large and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
