Bloodvine

This short leaf succulent grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall. The thick stem is burgundy, and is covered in sharp spines. The pebble-like leaves are found in blood red, bronze and lilac varieties. Large amounts of them grow on flat, burgundy branches that are very short and thin. The leaves are flimsy, and are very difficult to pull away.

It is steady-growing, taking 4 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with green petals and a yellow center grow at the top, reappearing after 9 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a tube made up of 20 tightly layered, narrow petals. It has a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like chocolate.

The leaf succulent's skin is delicate, the light grey flesh is soft, and the orange sap is thin.
