Caramel

This massive leaf succulent grows up to 164 feet (50.0 meters) tall. The thin stem is red or yellow, and is covered in large amounts of flexible amber spines. The stumpy leaves are solid caramel or red, with green lines. Sparse amounts of them grow on thick, emerald branches that trail down across the ground. The leaves are sturdy and flexible, but detach easily.

It is very fast growing, taking 5 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with petals that are faded purple in the center, cyan in the middle and azure at the edges, grow at the top, reappearing after 3 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a cube with 24 raised, narrow petals. It has an intensely strong scent that smells like varnish.

The leaf succulent's skin is nearly impenetrable, the bold orange flesh is sticky, and the caramel sap is thin and causes upset stomachs if consumed.
