Caramel Starflower

This modest-sized flower grows up to 1.6 feet (48 cm) tall. Its gray-green stem is very thin and splits into many branching stems three quarters of the way up, and the giant, silver leaves are long, narrow with smooth edges. A pair of leaves grow at the base of the stem.

Many tiny flowers grow in a bunch at the end of the stem. The flowers are 4 cm (1.6 inches) wide, with solid caramel petals and a peach central disk. The flower head is shaped like a star made up of 8 widely spaced, narrow petals. They are hardy.

It has an intensely strong scent that smells like rotten egg, and it has a fair amount of pollen; it can cause allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects , but only one species in particular.
