Silverberry

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 14 feet (4.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 19 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, straight trunk covered in hard, silky, silver and white bark, and inside, the flexible wood is mahogany-coloured.

The branches are long and thin and are covered with very large amounts of small, very thick leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are pastel blue and black.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of giant, amber blossoms with triangular shaped petals. They are hardy and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like garlic.

In early autumn it produces small, 7 pointed fruit. The smooth turquoise skin is delicate and edible when roasted; it is slightly bitter, and the very soft azure flesh is sweet and oily. The blood red seed is small and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with grassy ground between them.
